I'm grateful for your reading and appreciate your solidarity, and I look forward to a day when my progressive friends can stand in solidarity with Jewish people with no "but"s.

Standing in solidarity with Muslims shouldn't require that we simultaneously condemn crimes by Muslim states and organizations; standing in solidarity with Asians shouldn't require that we simultaneously condemn crimes by Asian states and organizations.

The same should go for Jews when people are beating us in the street.

(And as I say in the letter, I'm not telling you not to criticize Israel. I'm saying that you can do so separately from expressing solidarity with Jews, who are very much still oppressed in much of the world and are under attack right now in the US.)
